FASHION WEEK FAVOURITES – NEW YORK – SPRING/SUMMER 2018 – READY TO WEAR

It’s my favourite time of year again! Spring/Summer Fashion Week has kicked off to a bold start in New York with prints making a massive statement for this season. I’ve selected collections from a couple of designers that I’ve featured before but I’ve been blown away by the new designers taking to the runway who will definitely be ones to watch! Here are my top 7 from New York with another post up tomorrow putting my favourite collection in the spotlight – All photographs are sourced from the Vogue website.

Bibhu Mohapatra – Spring/Summer 2018 – Ready To Wear – Take a look at the full collection here

Bibhu Mohapatra collections have been super sleek and feminine in the past but this season seems to have an androgynous feel to it which I love. Victorian corsetry and shirting details really give these looks some character. I’m obsessed with dark olive and navy print used throughout to create shapes on the garment surfaces and the sheer fabric overlays to add even more texture to the looks.

Zimmermann – Spring/Summer 2018 – Ready To Wear – Take a look at the full collection here

This. Is. Too. Much. I have completely fallen for these looks and prints and I want to make 100 cushions from them! Zimmermann have definitely gone for the springtime florals and I’m not offended in the slightest. The range of shapes and pattern cutting techniques push the boundaries and take these garments from soft grandma prints to making a statement on a catwalk.

Helmut – Spring/Summer 2018 – Ready To Wear – Take a look at the full collection here

This is the first collection from Helmut that has really spoken to me, I love the diversity of looks and models used for this show. The ‘barely there’ cut bodices on the dresses are so interesting and the soft pops of pinks and reds are beautiful. I love the accessory details on the shoes and the oversized bra over the suit jacket, every look in this collection is so interesting and complimentry to the collection as a whole which I love.

Jill Stuart – Spring/Summer 2018 – Ready To Wear – Take a look at the full collection here

This collection is ‘working woman chique’ with an ultra feminine edge, the soft pastels and hints of deeper navy tones balance the looks out perfectly. I love the emphasis on the lingerie harnesses layered over garments – a fantastic subtle detail to add something extra into a look and bang on trend with lingerie pieces being a massive favourite from a selection of designers on the New York runway.

Marchesa – Spring/Summer 2018 – Ready To Wear – Take a look at the full collection here

Give me the gowns, all of them. Marchesa collections are forever blowing me away, the sheer volume of detailing and beauty in each piece always leaves me wanting to see more. The burst of sultry red tones brightened up the runway and the floral and jewellery details on the gowns were obvious Marchesa finishing touches. The dress with the fringe detailing was my favourite of all of the looks and it looked incredible moving down the runway.

Delpozo – Spring/Summer 2018 – Ready To Wear – Take a look at the full collection here

I will be forever inspired by Delpozo with their clever pattern cutting techniques and use of differently weighted fabrics create something really unique on the catwalk. The hints of neons with lighter fabrics really bring the garments to life and leave a lasting impression. I love the collection of ice cream colour tones used throughout the looks and can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

Marc Jacobs – Spring/Summer 2018 – Ready To Wear – Take a look at the full collection here

90s vibes and a whole lot more. This collection has so many design elements to it – with mad prints, oversized sillhouettes and neon furs to say the least and I’m living for it! I loved the mixture of turbans used down the runway, this allowed you to see every angle of the garments and brought an extra pop of colour into the palettes. Each diverse look included multiple layered garments and the oversized accessories added even more character to the collection as a whole.
