BATTLE OF THE MATTES – AVON VS MAC

Mac lipsticks have been a go to product for me, I struggle to not buy one whenever I find myself near a Mac store. I’ve always been overly impressed by the stay power of their products and the large choice of colour and finish, their matte range of lipsticks are by far my favourites. My dad’s girlfriend has recently become an Avon Representative and the company have just launched their ‘Perfectly Matte Lipstick’ that is apparently “Matter Than Mac”, I decided to try them out to show the results and give my opinion!

The Avon Perfectly Matte Lipstick is said to be “A 100% true matte, velvet look for intense, lasting colour and comfort in just 1 sweep.” so I put it to the test and compared it to some of the Matte finish Mac lipsticks from my own personal collection. I recieved three completely different shade samples from the Avon collection to try, I loved how miniature the samples were and how much product their was to use from one! I’m going to put the rest of the excess product from the samples to good use and take them on nights out purely because of the convenient size of them.

In comparison I found that the Mac Lipsticks gave much more of an intense colour as soon as they were applied, where as the Avon Lipsticks weren’t as in intense they were buildable to develop a vibrant colour. The Avon Lipsticks gave a glossy shine and were great for keeping your lips from getting too dry but they didn’t give the ‘Matte’ effect that you would expect especially if you compare them to the Mac shades. Either of these products could work well for different people  depending on what type of look and finish you would prefer.

All in all the Avon product is fantastic if you’re look for an inexpensive lip colour saving you £10 compared to the Mac lipsticks. They are great if you’re new to makeup and are wanting to experiment with new styles and colours without breaking the bank. In my opinion I would probably still use a Mac lipsticks due to the ease of use and the fact that I’ve already spent money on my collection of them but the Avon lipsticks really impressed me and the range of shades for a brand new product were great, it’s so easy to find the perfect shade for any skin tone.

I have to put this disclaimer–I sell Avon. But the ones I tried were not shiny at all. I tried Very Cherry and Pure Pink and they were extremely matte…so matte that I expected them to dry out my lips but they didn’t. I agree with the color not being as vibrant until you build it up though.Their mascaras are the same way. Great review!
